Heyman, pianist
A
veteran performer, Steven Heyman received his Bachelor and Masters degrees at the Juilliard School
as a scholarship student of Adele Marcus and continued his education at the
Academy in Vienna, working with Hans Graf.He has
received top prizes in over a dozen national and international competitions. He
has performed in London, Paris, Vienna, Salzburg, Oslo, Munich, Copenhagen,
Prague, and other major centers in Europe; and in Montreal, Quebec, Los Angeles,
Palm Beach, Washington, and in New York's Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.
Very
active in contemporary classical music, he has been involved in dozens of
premieres. He is a frequent performer for the
Society for New Music and has recordings available through the Society on
the Leonarda, Opus One, and Mode labels. Aside from an active performing
schedule, averaging 30 to 40 concerts a season, Mr. Heyman is the current
Artist-In-Residence at Colgate University.He has served on the faculty of
Syracuse University for 15 years, where in 1994 he received the School
of Music's Most Outstanding Faculty Member award
Locally,
he has been a featured soloist with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra on 13
different occasions.The upcoming
season includes the culmination of the complete Beethoven Violin and Piano
Sonata cycle with Laura Klugherz, violin.At
Colgate University he will also perform the Beethoven Third Piano Concerto, and recitals.A residency in Uganda, Africa
will highlight the Spring 2004 season.

of contemporary music experience, the Society for New Music has produced

is impossible to capture in words the unique talents of over 20 composers who are
represented in this collection - each thoroughly captivating and
